Well, I would like to be able to put more pictures up on here, but right now I can't find my camera. Maybe after I clean my room!
Last weekend I got back from my church home group retreat. We camped in the middle of Mount Hood National Forest and it was beyond beautiful. It didn't rain until the morning we were leaving, so that was great! I got to go to Bagby Hot Springs which was the first hot springs I have ever been to. Let me just tell you, it was so hot that it made my feet go numb. Took me about 15 minutes to get used to the water enough to actually sit down in the water.
I also had a friend visiting for a little over a week and we went all around Portland hitting all the attractions. But, sadly, that I do not have pictures of either. We went to the Zoo, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Forestry Center and Museum, Children's Museum, Hoyt Arboretum, International Rose Test Garden, Portland Art Museum, Japanese Gardens, Historical Society, walked around downtown, went to the Kennedy School, which is an old school that has been turned into a hotel, restaurant, bar, movie theatre, concert hall, and soaking pool. It was amazing.
Now, onto the job search: I went in for an interview on Wednesday, September 3rd at Portland Public Schools. I was applying to be a substute special education para-educator. (a mouthful that basically means a special ed teacher's assistant) Human Resources called me today and offered me the job and I was so excited and relieved. My orientation is on Thursday, the 11th, at 10 am. There are 80+ schools in the district, so I will be very busy sub-ing, hopefully every day! And then, the woman I interviewed with said that whenever a full-time position became availabe, they would offer it to me. Finally, a real job that I will actually enjoy!! And, I made the decision that I am going to go back to school, either in the spring or next summer and get my Master's in Special Education and become a Special Education teacher. I will do music stuff on the side and in the summers, but this just seems like the best way to live out both of my biggest passions in life.
Anyway, I should get going. I will definitely post photos on here sometime in the near future. Whenever it is that I actually find my hidden camera!
'Til next time,
Becky
