So, I haven't taken any pictures for the last two months...I'm going to try and change that, though. Things have been going really well lately. I start my job as a full-time special ed. para-educator on Tuesday! I've had to wait awhile to hear about that, so I'm really excited to finally start working. And, I am continuing to do Public Relations and Promotion work with a local musician named Summer to get everything set up for her CD release party on Nov. 20th.
You know, it's amazing how God provides for us just exactly when we need it most. I used to think I had so much trust and faith in God, but since I've been in Portland I have started to realize what trusting God truly means. It's crazy to be so far from home and have no job, no money, not very many friends, and what I thought was no direction for my life. But, for the second time, God has done a full 360 and has showed me that He is in complete control of my life and that if only I will trust my life to Him, He will completely take care of me and never lead me astray.
Now, I'm not only talking about finances here. In the last week, I have started building some amazing friendships. Some of these people are from my church home group. I have to say that this group is like no other. I usually HATE group things and will never speak up and let my voice be heard. But, I just feel so comfortable with these people and I really trust them. They genuinely care about everyone they come into contact with and are striving to do God's work throughout Portland and the world. Now, although I may not agree with all of them on every single issue, that doesn't matter. The point is, I feel like I've found a true community of believers who I feel comfortable with sharing my innermost thoughts and feelings and that has been a true blessing.
Tonight, we met with the former home group leaders who have been in Uganda for the last 10 months. It was amazing to hear their story and see all the pictures from their journey. It was an amazing time of community and fellowship. There were 30+ people there and it still felt like a small group. They called for people to share testimonies of what God had been doing in our lives and I told everyone how God had shown His provision and had been teaching me how to trust Him more and more and about the praise of suddenly going from zero paid jobs to two, all in one week! It was an amazing feeling to share that with everyone. Some of the people there, I hadn't even met before, but I still felt completely at ease with sharing the news.
Well, I'd better go. I'm going to finally put some pictures on here! (Even though most of them are from July!!)
